Not every place that you visit has a romantic charm. We don't want to name any cities -- but if the best part of downtown is made up of smokestacks, high-rise apartments and 8 lane highways, you are not one of the most romantic cities in the U.S.

Over the past 8 years we have researched different communities to find the ones that offer a true romantic ambiance. The criteria are based on the level of accommodations, variety of restaurants and couples activities that are available as well as the overall beauty and intrigue of the area. We also took into account the advice of other nationally known travel experts to build a list of romantic places.

Below are what we believe to be the most romantic cities in California. Aside from some wonderful hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts, each location offers a variety of activities that are perfect for couples in love.  In any of these locations, we can also provide a special Romantic Celebration (depending on the hotel). This is a great gift that both of you can enjoy and that builds on a special memory.
